The new collection aMEND, will be launched during the London Design Festival, at The Residence Gallery in Victoria Park, in September this year. If you would like to be invited to the private view please sign up to the mailing list. The press release is below.

aMEND is the launch of designer/maker Donna Walker's most recent collection. Following on from previous work questioning the mass-produced, as well as the value and memories that can be imbedded in our possessions, aMEND concentrates on the existing beauty, form, and craftsmanship in old and discarded pieces of furniture. These once redundant pieces are lovingly transformed with a contemporary twist, in what can only be described as a colourful blend of decades. The collection consists of a range of furniture and lighting.

Today was installation day for a commission I've been working on for a Quarry Hill Primary School in Grays, Essex. It's a giant snakes and ladders board made from steel and perspex. All pieces are magnetic which allows the format of the board to be changed around as and when the teachers decide. The design of the snakes and ladders was done in conjunction with the students at the school. See the installation below.

Tomorrow Farm:Shop by Something and Sons in Dalston will open its doors to the public for the first time. The project has taken over an old shop as part of the Art in Empty Spaces programme, and has looked at new and more traditional ways of growing fruit and vegetables in doors. As part of the project I was asked to design and make twelve chairs for the cafe area, below is a sneaky peak, more photo's to follow. In the meantime get yourself down to 20 Dalston Lane and check out Farm:shop, it's open Fridays-Sundays.

For more information please visit Farm:Shop's website by clicking here.
